To stop new attempts, stop the redial session. To end an active call, use that call’s end control. These are different decisions: AutoRedial documents that the session stops on connection and never automatically hangs up an active call.
The distinction matters when you hear a recorded message: Android reporting a connection does not prove that a person answered or your task is resolved. This guide uses a fictional case; it does not make calls or describe an interface we have tested.
A case: the line connects to a recorded message
Imagine needing to confirm an activity’s opening time and calling the appropriate public number. Android marks the call as connected, but you hear a recording. The redial session stops on connection. AutoRedial does not analyze audio to distinguish recorded messages from people.
You now decide what to do with the still-active call: listen for what you need or end it using its controls. Do not expect the app to hang up and redial because it has not recognized a human voice. Do not write “time confirmed” unless the message actually confirmed it.
Separate three states in your own check
| Question | What you check | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Is the attempt session running? | Whether the cycle continues or has stopped | That an active call has ended |
| Is the call still active? | That call’s state and controls | That a person has answered |
| Do I have the answer? | What you actually heard or agreed | That connection completed your task |
These are review questions, not three new application indicators. In the recorded-message case, the session has stopped, the call may remain active and your answer may still be missing.
If you stop during the wait, check that cycle
The official facts document manual stopping, including from the notification. Use it to stop the session when you decide not to keep trying. Then check its state: leaving a screen is not the same as requesting a stop.
If a call is active, review its end control separately. This guide does not invent button positions or equate stopping a session with hanging up. Before trying again, decide whether you still need to and review the configuration before starting another session; lack of an answer does not call for indefinite repetition.
Choose a limit before the first attempt
AutoRedial allows an answer wait, interval, maximum attempts and conditions for busy, unanswered or disconnected calls. Choose settings for your situation, check the number and respect that the other person may be unavailable. We do not prescribe a universal interval or promise a response.
Stopping at the maximum or on an error is also documented. If the cycle ends for either reason, your task is not automatically resolved: keep the question pending and decide on another time or an appropriate channel yourself.
Read each dialer’s own controls
Google Phone help and the Samsung calling guide explain ending calls in their applications. They are not AutoRedial interface instructions or proof of its features. The useful comparison is checking which action ends a call and which controls something else. Sources consulted on 23 October 2026.
Check AutoRedial and its official Google Play link before installing. It is a paid app for Android 10 or later and must be the default dialer. Consult the store for price, countries and device compatibility. It does not guarantee connection and excludes emergency numbers.
