They called you back: review the session you had prepared

A callback may change what you need to do

If someone calls you back and resolves the matter, check whether the retry session you prepared is still active. AutoRedial can receive calls and lets you stop a session manually. Do not assume every incoming call automatically cancels all retries.

The product facts say a session stops on connection, the maximum, an error or manual stopping. That list does not establish a universal callback-cancellation rule. Check the actual state.

An example before trying again

A fictional situation: you were contacting an office to confirm a collection. While waiting, someone there calls you and confirms the hours. You now have the answer you wanted.

After the conversation, inspect AutoRedial or its notification. If a retry session you no longer need is active, use its stop control. Without an active session, do not create another merely because your first outgoing call went unanswered.

We do not assert what happens with simultaneous calls, which number the caller will use or that the app identifies both conversations as concerning the same matter. The example need not invent those details.

Check three things

  1. Was the purpose resolved? Receiving a callback and obtaining information are distinct.
  2. Is a session still active? Inspect the app or notification rather than inferring its state from having spoken to someone.
  3. Do you need context later? A private history note can retain confirmed and pending details without presenting it as a message sent to the office.

Stopping retries does not automatically hang up an active call. Use the relevant call control to finish a conversation. The feature brief explains that distinction and notification control.

Choose the next step using the new information

If the callback left a question open, choose a concrete action before starting another session: review your note, wait for confirmation or prepare a question. A new session should answer a current need rather than inertia.

AutoRedial is a paid dialer for Android 10 or later and must be the default dialer. The product website links to Google Play for current pricing and compatibility. It does not guarantee connection; whether to call again remains your decision.
